Day 1 - Land's End to nr. Ilfracombe
Saturday 22/05/2021
-----------------------------------
We had a great night of rest at Tiffany's. So great to just jump on the bikes this morning and not have to faff with wet tents. We met everyone at Land's End, took the obligatory photo next to the sign and we hit the road.
The weather turned-out to be great. Fantastic sunshine for the whole day. An absolutely great route following the North Coast of Cornwall. After a welcome breakfast at the golden arches, we continued down the picturesque route taking-in beautiful villages and more stunning coastal views all the way to Padstow Harbour where we had our lunch break.
Padstow is lovely but it was busier than I expected. Nice to have a pasty sitting on the harbour wall and watching the boats. After lunch we continued on the coastal route, taking-in Tintagel and Boscastle amongst other attractions. A lovely day of riding and so lucky with the weather.
We ended the day camped-up in a barn on a working farm. Lovely given the predicted rain tomorrow. We had a great meal and polished-off a couple of bottles of wine before turning-in. A good group of people on the trip, nice to socialise a bit after months on lockdown!
It was chucking down with rain from the moment I started loading
Tomorrow we head North toward Leominster, in the rain.....
